Abraham Lincoln.

Sixteenth President of the United States, he served during an
era of extreme turmoil for a nation barely 85 years in existence, assassinated
at the end of a Civil War he had guided the nation through for four years.
Carte de visite (Ostendorf #69) taken by Thomas Le Mere for the Mathew Brady
studio on or about April 17, 1863. This is an original, vintage, "from
life" photograph taken and printed during Lincoln's lifetime. Condition
near perfect, verso has additional paper label for Earles' Looking Glass Galleries in
Philadelphia covering credit for E. Anthony, Publisher, 501 Broadway, New York.
